The first trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming has finally landed. I’m not a fan of spilling the beans on the revealing within a trailer, so check it out for yourself below.
What I find interesting in the trailer is how thematically different it is than anything we’ve yet to see from Spidey on the big screen. The movie circles around a young kid who’s caught between being young, growing into an adult, and trying to figure out what to do with these new abilities he’s been giving. It’s not terribly unique, but it does frame the movie in a different light than I was expected. Also, throwing Tony Stark in as a father figure? That’s a new one to me but I’ll take it. I do wish the movie was a bit more of a standalone film, instead of shoehorning other heroes in side, however.
I like seeing Michael Keaton take on the role of the Vulture, transitioning from on Bird Man character to another. while the trailer shows very little of his performance, I think he’s a great fit and the costume looks great.
We’ll be waiting until July 2017 for this one, but color me optimistic.
